Best egg laying chickens???

Out of 28 breeds that we have, the three purebreeds that lay the best are our Leghorns, Delawares and New Hampshire Reds.

Well obviously the leghorns will be the top and sometimes I am sorry I didn't get a few, but family just had to see some brown eggs. I would use the dual purposes like RIR, Black Austrolorps and Barred Rocks.

Till about 6 weeks ago, the Cochin I have that looks like a Barred Rock with feathery feet, has been my best Brown Egg layer. She was giving about 5 eggs a week that were always around 2 ounces. But then she (and the rest of the girls) went on strike. Just got my first egg in about a month, this afternoon.

I agree my leghorns are the best producer for size and feed use, then my buff orpingtons are really producing well.
