Hi all,
Our three female Runner Ducks are now 7 weeks old and beyond messy with their food. We're currently using a plastic baby chick feeder (the kind with small holes at the base), and they manage to get food EVERYWHERE!

Today my husband and I saw the pictured baby pig feeder next to the poultry feed. Has anyone used a feeder like this for ducks? Does it help contain the mess?

Any other feeders you'd recommend instead?

I just want to say...I love the name of this thread!!! It goes 2 ways..1. you should buy that pig feeder it will work great! 2. ducks are like pigs...they make such a mess. I use a metal dish. The one thing about that is that it will rust and so keeping an eye on the rust can be a hassle. Also it does NOT prevent food going every where!!!! I would stick to the pig feeder...it will work great!

Glad the thread name gave you a smile! We alternately call our girls "feathered pigs" and "whistle pigs" not just because of how messy they are, but also because of the hilarious grunting, squealing, and whistling sounds they make when in a feeding frenzy (e.g. when I give them special treats like bananas, blueberries, or raspberries). :lau
