Very cool. Would you use layer feed if you only had hens?
No, hens don't lay year round. Hen stop laying when in molt and don't lay as often in the winter so there calcium needs are less at these times.

So is 24% too high of a protein? I just bought 6 bags of turkey finisher. It was right around the same price as grower - but the grower was only 15% - which seemed far too low for my young chicks and growing turkeys. I want everyone to be on the same food.

I wouldn't feed layer even if I had only laying hens.

There are a quit a few breeders that feed 22 to 24 percent protein.
One of the key thing is that it has animal proteins and fats in it.
