16Chickens Keeper
Songster
So I know if you want Show Quality or Breeding quality it is best to go to a breeder, but for those of us not interested in that we often turn to hatcheries to add new color and pizzaz to our flock. Often times you can find nice quality breeds, and it could happen vise verse where you end up with low/bad quality hens. and the fault lies with the Hatchery so to help first time chicken owners debating weather or not to order chicks online. Most of the feedback will be from personal opinion/experience from past and current owners over their breeds appearance and quality.

They gave me a ‘discount’ to cover the shortage and placed my order of 20 red sex link chicks (15 pullets and 5 cockerels) without so much as a complaint. All arrived in great condition and I didn’t lose a single one even when it took 4 days for them to arrive due to my wacky post office (one of the reasons why I ordered extra cockerels). All birds were healthy and beautiful and were incredible layers when grown, even through the winter. Pullets were super friendly (one so much so that she quite happily let my sister in law paint her toenails red). Cockerels were a bit aggressive but learned to stay away when taught who was boss. If I had to order from a hatchery again, I would definitely go with them. 10/10 rating from me.
