I thought it would be great if we could use the expertise of those who have had great success with hatching with incubators and broodies.

So here is the format:

# of Eggs Set:
# of Eggs Hatched:
Percentage % :
Type of Incubator: (brand, forced or still air or broody hen)
Ave Temp Setting thru hatch:
Humidity setting Day 1-17 :
Humidity setting Day 18-21:
LOCATION: (where you are from)
EGGS: (shipped vs. own pen or pickup nearby)
Variety (breed) of chicken:
Month of year:

Quote:
13 eggs
11 hatched
I don't do math!!

Genesis 1588
99.5-100
30%
60-65%
Kansas
shipped from Kentucky
BLRW
first week of June

I should add that my own eggs I generally have a good hatch rate too. This was my best on shipped eggs tho. Since I haven't shelled out money for my own eggs I don't keep as close of tabs on them!!

Oh, and Katy? You take the hatched rate and divide it by the set rate, and that will give you your percent

I think we are learning here.

Keep them coming. This is very educational.

We should be able to come up with "Regional" settings suggestions at the end of this thread doing averages.

We have had lower tempts than our normal. But broody hen has been a great mom, we got 2 pullets that we kept and 2 roos, who have already been placed in a new home

Maybe they should add how often they turned the eggs and if they did it by hand or with an automatic turner. It would effect the results if you have to open or not open your incubator to turn the eggs. Just a suggestion.

No turner, all candled on day 10, 14 and 18 by candling down into the egg and yes I had to pick each one up.
