I had some feather loss going on at that time, didnt know if it was mites or other hens picking. I covered both bases by treating with ivermectin and putting pinless peepers on the ones with no feather loss.

I do the same...heated dog water bowl. I sometimes put a piece of board over part of it so the whole top is not exposed to whatever might get scratched into it.
