best heavy brown egg layers

I wonder how in the world can my Golden Comets lay the big brown eggs that they lay! As a female, it kind of makes me hurt if you now what I mean!!! LOL

just a few thoughts , more issues than just eggs
how cold does it get, how hot in the summer?
both my buffies and comets are ok to handle, my glw and slw are not kid proof at all.

my buffy is so calm she just spent a month in the kitchen in a crate hatching eggs, getting drug out of her crate twice a day for food and water, no pecking, just some hissing on hatch day. that is kid proof bird!!!!

my buffies are calm , quiet layers, some yelling , but not much once br gone. my comets are smaller, good layers but nosier,
i rehomed my barred rocks, great layers but made a ton of racket for a city.
the buffies are big and eat a lot more than the comets,,,, 1 1/2 comets to one buffy space and food wise.

buffies are not as good at breaking out of the pen. when I asked my sister what color chicken I should get next , she said," more of the dumb ones that can't fly/get out of the pen" so its more buffies for us.

I keep a 150 watt daylight bulb in the pen, in the old brooder lamp, on a timer, trained on the day roost all winter so they get enough light, had eggs all winter. plus i fed a lot of veggies and oyster shell.
