ive had a few hens go broody but i'd like to hatch out some specific eggs bought from here and local sources. id like an auto egg turner and your opinions on still and circulated air bators. plan on hatching out some duck eggs now and then some chicken ones later on. all input is greatly appreciated. thank you very much.

For a "total noob", the more automatic the incubator the better the chance of good hatches. I definitely recommend circulated air over still air. Believe me, having a 'bator full of eggs for 3 weeks only to have a zero hatch because of temp and humidity fluctuations is heartbreaking (and potentially very, very expensive).

I highly recommend the Brinsea incubators. I only hatch a few eggs at a time, so the Mini Advance (holds 7 chicken eggs) is great for me. Temperature control is spot-on, and it has an auto-turner. If I had more money, I'd have purchased the EX model with automatic humidity control. If you want to hatch more eggs, they have larger models as well.

Check out gryeyes page and you'll see how much she loves the Brinseas. I've lost count of the number that she has.

I was a total noob when it came to hatching until about one month ago. I got a brinsea octagon eco 20. COULD NOT BE EASIER! I did get the egg turner alo, so all I needed to do was check if it needed water every 2-3 days. I got 18/19 to hatch ( my own barnyard mix of eggs from my hens). Easy to clean, good capacity.

Two thumbs up

I have the Mini Advance, but really want to upgrade to the Octagon 20 Advance. Just went out to their site, and they're sold out until mid-April!

Obviously, a LOT of people are figuring out the the Brinseas are the way to go!!

i just dont know about how darn expensive the brinsea ones are. i understand theres some cost involved but it seems like a small amount of eggs at a time. id like to hatch a dozen at a time but the 20 egg brinseas i see on ebay are $250 yeesh

ive read your website cfmoneyfarms before, why do u think i dislike still air? lol

Don't go to ebay for one. I think with the incubator, turner and shipping (I did have a $15.00 off special from their fb page) It was around $178

The Octagon Eco 20 holds 24 eggs!! I LOVE that bator!!

Go to Brinsea.com and check out there web specials. Their Octagon Eco 20 is in stock and on sale for $99.00 and the turner is on sale for $49.99

The US prices on eBay are higher than on Brinsea's US website. In GB you can find eBay prices lower, but the overseas shipping would be prohibitive, I would think.

I like the small incubator because it's easier for me to brood a small number of chicks. Plus, I don't have any more room for chickens, so I have to sell some in order to incubate more. Easier to sell 7 than 20+.
