Thinking abt getting laying hens and a roo. I want abt 8 hens and I want them to be different. Which hens lay the best and also look nice?

Do a forum search on brown leghorns - beautiful and prolific egg layers.

Wyandottes are wicked good layers, even as they age. And if it's eye candy you want, it's hard to find a more stunning breed. I have both Silver-laced and Gold-laced Wyandottes, and they're still laying regularly into their fifth year.

I would second the Wyandottes. I have both the silver and the gold. Good looking friendly birds. Check out the Eastereggers/Americaunas. I got a bunch of them. They come in a variety of colors, and lay blue eggs, another nice friendly breed.

Just curious do the blue laced red wyandottes lay as good as the silver and gold laced?
