best laying hybrid

Ive been searching a few different hatcherys and see that cackle has brown and gold sex links as well as red and black. Anyone have experience with either of those?

cackle hatchery will tell you that the two gold/comet/brown or what ever they call them are the best layers they have. the Red and Black sex links they have are not considered as good of layers.

Over the years, it is worth remembering the ISA Brown. She's no longer the world leader she once was, a place she held for a very long time, but still an outstanding layer of large brown eggs. Outstanding quality of egg as well. Townline Hatchery in Zeeland Michigan is an approved seller of these birds.

No conversation of great layers is quite complete without giving the ISA Brown some honorable mention.

I've seriously considered the ISA's but haven't tracked any down in my area. I would prefer to keep the shipping distance to a minimun so my choices are Cackle or Ideal.

I like how you think 3rivers and I hope to have a better program in the future. I've currently got BLRWyndotte roos over Delawares but I dont know enough about them yet to justify hatching out a large flock. I need more eggs to satisfy the market demand ASAP so I figured I'd go ahead with one more hatchery order to speed things along.

I agree with everyone that the red hybrids are the best. I love the traditional crosses, especially the Delawares with reds. For dual purpose, I love White Rocks but have more predator problems with them than the RSLs.

I would say that the lines of BLRWs I have had and seen have focused on lacing and weight rather than egg laying ability, and that they are some of the poorer layers out there, even for the Wyandotte family.

I suspect that the blrw's I have are probably on par with what your saying. Somedays I may only get a couple eggs out of a dozen hens..very aggravating. The Delaware hens that im using though are the best layers on the farm so maybe it will work out.

Thee best layers are Hy-Line breeds. Not only do they produce the most amount of eggs they also require less feed.
