Best NATURAL MOSQUITO REPELLANT I've Ever Used!

Cool, might have to try that. People use me as mosquito repellant cause when I'm around the squitos ignore everyone else and come for me.

Last time I used bug spray I was spraying my scalp and the wind blew it right into my face so I inhaled it all... gosh that stuff screwed up my lungs. So word of advice... don't breathe it. lol

Ugh the worst was last summer at the lake for the 4th. I sprayed my body, then my clothing, and my hair/hat and the buggers bit me thru the DENIM! My kids were so ate up they looked like I was beating them...

We are going to be trying as many natural remedies as we can this year cause obviously the man-made crap isnt cutting it!

I think its b-1 that works, maybe b-12? I am almost at the point of making everyone swallow a whole garlic clove like a vitamin every morning!

Thanks Valentinebaby! I'm going to share this with my daughters. All three have small children, the youngest has a 3 week old. I think this would be ideal for them.

Around here, our organic guru is Howard Garrett. Here's some tips from him on mosquito control -

I sent him an email on this 2 years ago and he now has a whole page about it. I say anything that may work is worth the effort. I think I'll try his vanilla spray - might help cool me off during our hot summers here and I can make it at home!

Check out Thermacell.

Everything else might work. This does work.

Heats up a pad soaked in some exotic South American tree sap.

No smell, No muss. No fuss. Skeeters cringe.

I would like to add my .02¢ A recent study has shown that Catnip oil (Nepeta cataria) is 10 times more effective than Deet in repelling mosquitoes. It can be purchased online do a google search for "catnip oil".

And it is totally non-toxic. I started growing catnip a few years ago for my cats. They go absolutely nuts for the fresh stuff. The dried up poor excuse for Catnip at the petstore does not come close. I even eat it myself it has a nice minty and spicy smell/taste.

I like the Avon, too, but with the heat and humidity here is too oily. Any mosquito flying by sticks to me!

I think I'm going to try mixing a teaspoon of vanilla extract into a bottle of regular lotion and see it it helps.

Thanks for the post! I have three boys who are outside all the time, one of which always is full of bites. I think his body temp. stays higher, he is very hot natured and every bug within a mile radius zeroes in on him. I hate sprays but know kids who have gotten encephalitis from mosquitoes, so if this works for us I will be thrilled. Thank you!
