Best or favorite chicken breed

I don't want any chickens for meat I just would like chickens with unique patterns or colors or unique eggs but I'm open to trying any breed
Have you considered breeding out your next generation? Getting an interesting looking roo and letting those genetic dice roll might give some interesting patterns/colors/ect.

Yea I want to get a rooster but they don't want to deal with the crowing :(
That's fair, my boy is pretty noisy and more than happy to wake me up at 4AM some days. They are cooped up in a bit of a forest through, so no complaints from the neighbors fortunately. I did notice on the darker days that he was substantially quieter though (cloudy and snow on the roof of the coop - they have a transparent panel on their roof and I think they get some moonlight in there). But yea, if I had this guy at my previous house, I would absolutely be getting complaints from neighbors.

For feather variety, I like EEs. But I gotta say, my show-stopper is my Spitzhauben. EVERYONE loves her. She's a HOOT.

For general all-around awesomeness, I like Brahmas. Big, quiet, friendly.

And I do love my silly Silkies. They are tiny and fluffy and goofy. They are lap chickens, for sure. Very unusual looking birds, imo.

I've had golden sexlinks (hybrid), orpingtons and barred rock. By far, the barred rocks are most fun. They are very talkative and inquisitive. I believe they are smarter than any other breed I've experienced. First to figure out new things, able to teach tricks to, and a healthy heritage breed. They are good layers, too; mine lay daily with a short break once and a while, which is good for their system.

This is my Pride and Joy, 5 month Old

Aww I saw a picture of a Spitzhauben and the top feathers look a lot like polish chickens feather I wonder if they're related. I do want Silkies but I heard that they are more susceptible to lice and mites so I may not get them.
