best place to buy quality pilgrim geese?

anyone buy any good ones from ideal before?

I have heard of people getting mismarked pilgrims from Ideal. I plan on purchasing pilgrims from Metzer farm's next year. They are sold out for this year and have started a waiting list for next year. They bought Holderread's pilgrim flock so they should be high quality.

I'm sad to say that I got a pair of Pilgrims from Metzer's in 2010 and the gander is, according to the standard, poorly marked. He has far too much grey showing with wings folded and he might be oversized too.

I sure like him though.

And if Metzer's bought Holerreads after that well ... Guess I should have waited and maybe I'll re-order someday.

Well that is good news.

Depending how things work out with my flock, maybe in a couple years I'll start over from them. I was disappointed in that I'd hoped to raise at least typical-looking Pilgrims. My formerly-sweet and mis-marked gander is actually the meanest of my group now, so maybe he just doesn't fit into my plans. He's a great flock-defender though, so he may have other uses.
