Best place to get coop windows? (**updated w/ PICS)

What I did is frame a piece of plexi glass with 1x1's and put it on hinges. I can swing it open on nice days and bolt it shut when I need. If I remember correctly the sheets of acrylic plexi glass came from Home depot and they were about $20 a piece. Proabably not as air tight as prefab windows but much cheaper.

Not that much cheaper. I bought nice shed windows, 18" x 27" for $28 a piece. They are made of aluminum. The bottom half slides up and down and can be locked into 3 different positions with spring side locks. It has a screen and cottage style vinyl grids. I framed them out after nailing them on through the flanges, and then added a second frame with hardware cloth that I can easily remove to wash the windows.

Thanks for all the suggestions and responses. I got impatient and decided to just wing it and make my own....Here are some pics of my efforts:

....

Next I cut out the windows, you can see my helpers here....

Use the cut outs to fashion working shutters...they turned out very nice I think...they will look even nicer once painted white (like the coop interior) matching the trim.

Here is what the shutters looks like closed...open during summer and closed during the winter.

Now I just need to finish the other window....Please ignore the rusty tin roof, I think I must have installed it upside down because its brand new and already rusting

. May have to spray with polyurethane or something. Except fo the tin roof and hardware, the entire coop is made from pallet wood and reclaimed wood.
Helpers pic is awesome.....nice job on the coop and windows auto5man!
Bummer about the roof, maybe paint it with rustoleum?

Okay so I finished the other window and the shutter for it, then painted the trim/shutters...

While I was working several of the chickens kept flying up in the windows....they were VERY curious to see the inside of the new coop. I have a washtub inside full of bedding and Welly the EE kept getting in and scratching around the bedding. I took a break and went inside for lunch...when I came back there were TWO eggs in the washtub, lol. I guess they are telling me to hurry up and open up the new coop for business.

Things were looking so good, I painted some more trim, and also stained the legs with outdoor "porch and fence" stain. Sort of inspired me to finish out some of the little details that have been waiting on me. You can see the pop door from this angle (people access door is on the other end). The eaves are taped up with paper to paint the end rafters.

Now I'm glad I didn't buy windows, because I really like these and it was a good learning experience building them. Still have to put hardware cloth on the inside, also planning on adding 'panes' for looks.

The cheapest "shed windows" I found and bought for my coop were at Ready Shed. I bought 4 windows from them and was please with the price and the window. They are not suitable for a house, but for a shed or coop, they are just fine. If 21" is the max you can use, they have 14 x 21 standard windows for $27.90. The bottom half slides up and down. It has a screen and spring locks on both sides that allow 3 adjustable heights on the window. They are flush mount style with 1" nailing flange, all aluminum with safety glass and cottage style vinyl grids. They also sell the shutters and window boxes you mentioned you were looking for.

I then put a wood frame around them and hardware cloth over the frame. They really added a nice look to our coop.

Here they are without the hardware cloth. I bought 18" x 27" for our coop.

Necro post I know, but felt it was a worthwhile resurrection. I bought (4) windows from Ready Shed 1.5 weeks ago. Well, I thought I did. Went to his site, paid via PayPal, and have not heard a single peep from this guy since. I've sent numerous emails/phone calls/contact us from his website yet have received nothing in return.

I filed my PayPal complaint today in order to get my money refunded and will go elsewhere. Just felt like people should know to steer away from this guy's site as he is either out of business (yet still taking money), or just lacks any customer service skills.

Thanks for the heads up. I know this is an old thread but I was just about to try that place when I read the post as Im looking for windows I just searched and this came up..so thanks for saving me the hassle

I have not, but I don't feel as if I should have to track a person down via numerous means on contact.

However, I guess I should have made the post earlier as I did get an email from him a couple minutes ago stating they were moving warehouses and they should ship out today/tomorrow.

I'm glad he is alive and well, and my items will be shipping, but from how we run our family owned business, there was still a few missed steps that could have prevented this from happening.

I will update the thread/post once I have received my tracking information, but as of now, i have no reason to doubt I'll get my items.
