I've seen several pics of the OP riding and based upon that, and the level of maturity exhibited in her posts, I would never recommend her becoming a rider/trainer of someone elses horse. Rider, yes, if it meant she was taking lessons.

babyblue was not being mean at all, just truthful and to the point. Just forgot to toss in a lot of smilies.

I think that as a minor, it's going to be difficult to find a paying job in the horse field at this time. Liability is a huge concern, many will not risk it.
Rachel, I greatly admire that you want to work hard and earn money to get a new horse! But it might be better to look around at other things. Good luck!

I don't know about where you are, but around here we charge $15 an hour. Just giving you some input, cause I haven't seen anyone on this thread answering your question. So, $10-15 should be fine. I think you can do whatever you put your mind to, so go for it!

You can earn 600 in a summer if you do work. I agree, you seem way too much of a novice to be riding green horses...pay or no pay.

Anyway, mucking stalls and grooming earns some money if you are thorough, I did it for a good friend growing up and didn't want to get paid because she was a friend. In addition, wash cars, mow lawns, and do weed pulling for friends and neighbors for a few bucks. It all adds up. When I was teen, my biggest cash cow was in petsitting, and I didn't even charge a specific price. People just paid me what they thought was good (and I always thought it was too much). I got all my petsitting jobs through word of mouth because I was dependable and passionate.
