Hi everyone!

Looking for advice for the best coop and run for under $1000. We just ordered 5 chicks and can't wait! Unfortunately we don't have tools to build one at this time.
Space is not a limiting factor so the bigger the run the better. We wont be expanding our flock as 5 is the city limit.

Thanks for the help and discussion!

Best coop honestly would be a shed. You'll need to do some work on it (add windows and ventilation, add roosts and nest boxes) but it's the best starting structure you can buy.

For a run I'd suggest a 10x10 dog kennel as the base unit. You will need to beef it up for extra security (such as a hardware cloth apron and up the bottom few feet of the sides) but they're generally easy to find and to set up and would provide adequate space for a small flock.

So they limit the number of birds,
but have no restrictions about the coop and run, like setback and sizes?
