Has anyone bred Red Star or Isa Brown chickens. I want to know if I should use an Isa Brown rooster that look exactly like a Rhode Island Red or one that is white and brown. I plan on breeding one of these Isa Brown roosters to a Red Star hen.

I also have a pure white, Red Star rooster that I can use. I was thinking that I would get better egg production, since it pulled on the Leg Horn side.

What are you breeding for or trying to produce? If it's anything besides color/pattern it doesn't really matter which one you use.
Also just cause one is white doesn't mean it pulled on the Leghorn side. It means it pulled color genes that made it white.

I guess I am breeding for extra-large brown eggs with leghorn production numbers. Not sure what will happen with selective breeding Red Star with Isa Brown from two different farms. The hatching eggs I got my Isa Brown Rhode Island Red and white /brown roosters from were very large brown eggs and they were all the same size.
