Best small incubator for a beginner

I have used it twice and none have hatched, but I was doing some stuff wrong (humidity/ temp.) I was using a mercury themometer and it wasn't reading right. But I have more eggs in right now and they are doing good.

Thanks! Let me know how it goes because I may give this a try in the future on a very small scale and if this incabator is good enough, I can save some money to keep the cost down. Good luck on the hatching

The problem is with a still air model, that you will probably want to install a fan for better hatch rates (another $40+). Then you'll probably want a turner, because turning that many eggs three times a day gets old pretty quick ($55). So pretty fast your $41 incubator is more like a $130 incubator, but it's still a hunk of styrofoam.

I hatched 300+ guineas one year in a hunk of styrofoam with a still air incubator one year. So, I think it is worth taking the risk.

Actually, I wish I still had that hunk of styrofoam, it belonged to my sister. She never used it .....

I have a Brinsea Ova--you want to talk about a lot of $$ for a hunk of Styrofoam!

I started with a base model Hovabator, no fan, no turner. I set a couple dozen eggs and had about an 80% hatch rate on my first try.

I enjoyed turning the eggs, and talking to my peeps. Now that I'm setting more eggs, a turner is necessary, but I miss handling the eggs.

if I had to turn eggs by hand I would not hatch eggs.

If I wanted to be that tied down, I would un-retire and go back to work..
