best solution for this situation?

I have the same stuff going on here and never know what to do. The chicks (3 wks) are in their new large coop with their light. Today it was 96 in there. They were panting. I obviously turned the light off. I filled their waters with ice cubes and cold water, they were liking that. We had a fan in there too. I didn't know how hot is too hot??? Then at night it is going to be 58 so I put the light back on, it's 80 in there now. They are fine. We have a window on one end, a big door and a chicken door on the other (north and south). The east is a solid wall and the west has 3 large windows (that don't open) and the sun was baking in there. Now we put 3 old bed sheets over the windows. Ughghgh

So, the rule of thumb I see quoted for brooder chicks is 95*F for week one, 90* for week 2, 85* for week 3...etc. By week 6 they are feathered out and can stand cooler temps. for you guys experiencing hot weather already, watch out for those big temperature swings.
After two broody hatches, and then doing this one myself, I will always from now on, let my broody do the work. She is much better at it than I, and flock integration is no problemo!

Anyway, Good luck!
