My understanding is that cedar chips are too aromatic and can irritate the sensitive respiratory system of birds. Pine has less fragrant oils, and aspen even less.The pine chips are amazing keeps their outside pen much more dry!! Any difference with the cedar chips??

TSC was out of pine so I put down cedar just in the outdoor pen I am still using straw for their coop when the go to bed at night but I will only use aspen or pine from now on!!My understanding is that cedar chips are too aromatic and can irritate the sensitive respiratory system of birds. If you notice your birds having foot sores (bumblefoot), you may want to switch to a softer substrate.
