I know some breeders like to give their chicks a head start by hatching their chicks in winter and keeping them in the brooder until the first day of spring comes. But I have to ask, is there a better time to hatch? What month is best?

In spring, it's warmer and they get to run around and eat bugs. It's also easier to ship in spring, due to chickens not dying of heat stroke or frost. In winter, they mature so that they start laying eggs just as the light begins to really pick up--and thus, more egg production. It comes down to personal preference, in the end.
