I have a 2 yo Brahma who is molting, which gave me a good look at her feet. The scales are quite lifted. It *might* be foot feathers growing in, but I'd rather not chance it.

On hand, I gave Ivermectin pour on for cattle, permetherin liquid and powder, vaseline, A +D ointment, and castor oil. Can get gasoline easily. I'm willing to shell out $150 for PSP.

Which is the best route for a quick, effective, painless (for the bird) treatment?

My Wyandotte had lifted scales on her feet and I noticed she was having trouble walking and getting up on the roost because of her feet. It took a long time for me to get where she could walk normally again, but I used to wash her feet and scrub them with a toothbrush, then I would spray elector PSP on her feet and then rub Vaseline on them. She is OK now, but she still has lifted scales on her feet, so I continue to put Vaseline under the scales even though she seems OK. I don’t know if my treatment was painless for her and it sure wasn’t quick.

That's typical for Brahma's. Sometimes it's tough to distinguish if it's SLM's due to feather regrowth through the scales. They love to take dust or dirt baths and the dirt gets up under the scales and it looks like SLM feces. We assume it's SLM's including me. I treat for SLM's just in case simply because the mites will consume tissue all the way through the leg or foot. It's best to play it safe.
You also have to treat the roosts that they perch on at night. I use Nu-Stock for both. It's all natural and kills the scaly leg mites. I apply it twice, once every 5 days, done.
If you decide to use it, wear disposable gloves when applying to the feet and legs and shake the tube well before using it. Put a light coat on the roosts as well. When I'm done using it, I put the tube in a ziplock bag and put it away for another time when it might be needed.
It's usually in the equine section at a feed store.

I actually have some Nustock. I didn't know it was effective on SLM. Thanks!

Maybe I'll do both the PSP and the Nustock @dawg53 suggested. Best of both!

Thanks for responding! I have a feeling I'll be at it for a while, too. I know that lifted scales take s long time to renew even if the mites are gone. And I'm in the middle of treating another hen with stubborn vent gleet. Been treating 2x a day for 2 weeks. I just ordered medistatin. It's been a tough year for my chickens, too! 2020 sucks.

Ok. Did a PSP dip followed by Nustock. I wore gloves, and my hands STILL stink from the Nustock!

Hopefully, that does it.
:lau I can relate! It works great and will kill scaly leg mites in short order. Did you get a chance to read the ingredients?
