Hey folks, We are brand new to the site!
We are planning to construct our coop this fall and get chicks in the spring. For now, as we prepare, we want to plant some new trees for shade around our coop. Any thoughts on safe trees that would provide good shade? Also, if they grow a little on the quick side, that might help too. We will buy trees that are half-grown and put in the ground, but I want to make sure we have enough shade next summer. Thanks for any help!
P.S. We are in north Alabama :)

an Oak planted 30 years ago. haha!
Sorry, couldn't resist.

Any fast growing tree might be problem in a decade.
Maybe plant a few fast growers alternated with some slower growers.

Yes, knowing your location would help.
Oh, and, Welcome to BYC!

I just built my coop where there is shade already. The chickens will have passed on before you get any great amount of shade from new planted trees.
