best way to give grit&oyster shells

tho my hens have a dirt floor run, i throw a small handful of grit down on monday morning w/ the scratch feed. i put down the grit first and pour the scratch on top.

as for the oyster shells, a question: if i give them egg shells, is that adequate or do they NEED the other and do the NEED it at all?

Use tuna can screwed to the wall of the run so I can see when they need more grit or oyster shell.
