Best Way to House Poultry?

What type of housing do you use?

Hmmmm.... should have an all of the above. Most of them are in a tractor but I still let them free range when I'm home so they can stretch their wings better. Silkies are in a pen because half are still less than four months old and seem so tiny and the other three were traumatized by a flock of LF before they were given to me. I had a polish I had to give away because my LF were always picking on the little guy. I don't want them to abuse my silkies too. Hope to have them a tractor soon.

We have a dog kennel that our chickens/peafowl roost in at night but during the day the free range. For our bantam cochins we have a rabbit hutch that we are converting into a coop/run.

coop with runs - but they free range anyway (the runs are for if they have to be seperated for breeding - otherwise they go where they want.) They go into the coops at night for lock-up.

so I voted freerange.

predators aside, I think they are more healthy when they can get out of the coop and run and get some fresh grass and bugs.
