Best way to introduce a young duck to existing flock

I can, but it's more a pain in my opinion. We like for them to all sleep in the same coop, but since we got Cami, we separate them. Two in the coop, and two in a large dog crate. Will he be a jerk forever, or will this pass? I just read that breeding season is here, and that may be adding to his aggression

FWIW, I don't want to put him in the freezer but we can't watch him attack her anymore. Maybe physical separation from the whole flock, and leave him with only a visual will cool him off after a week or so

That is what I meant just keep him separate from the rest while your gone. He may not get calmer till breeding season is over.

Holy crap that's a long way off! We'll see what tonight brings. My wife has to care for them everyday, because I leave for work so early. The burden is mostly on her for separating them

I say they are still mating in Sept but things are winding down by then and drake is dif not as aggressive in his mating.

When I have to separate I use the plastic poultry fencing from Lowes and the fiber glass[plastic] fence posts that have the point on the end just push into the ground I have a small coop that I use for brooding and that is where my mamas and babies stay till the flock is use to them. Then when time I take down the fence roll it up and store till I need it again. Something like that might work for separating your drake as long as he has a safe place to sleep at night. That way he can't still be with the girls just can be rough on Cami.

So, we thought both of our existing girls approved of Cami, turns out only the one. The poor girl came out of the coop yesterday missing a LOT of feathers on her neck and in front of her wings. Are ducks aggressive this way during mating season too? We will be keeping the mean ones away from her for the foreseeable future

Oh the girls can be hard on each other also. I haven't had any go to that extreme but they can. Good idea to keep them separate but in sight of each other and hopefully by fall things will have calmed down. you might try the one that has accepted her in for visits. just so she isn't so lonely.

Yeah, her and daisy have been real good together. We were going to let my 3 year old show Cami at the fair, but with her missing feathers I doubt she would do well. There's always next year though!
