Best way to introduce new females to existing group

Hi! I'm a new coturnix quail owner. We hatched some chicks from eggs, and long story short, we now have 6 healthy quails at about 6 weeks old. Only ONE is a confirmed female (based on her chest feathers), and we haven't been able to sex the others because they aren't sexable by feather type as far as I can tell. And I haven't looked at their tushies yes. So ANYWAY

We assume we need more females. I found some on a nearby farm that are pretty colors and are already 9 weeks old. Our current guys are living outside in a coop we just built, where there's plenty of room for more. If we get 4-6 9-week old females, are there any concerns with just putting them in the coop, or is there an introduction process? None of the birds have been fighting...yet...

aww!!! cute names, I name mine as well. I think you should put a see through barrier (maybe hardwire) for a couple of days to watch their behaviour. The new birds on the other side so that they can see each other but not peck each other.

To introduce our quail's children to the flock, we put then in the "quarantine" house (built into our hutch/coop-ish thing) for 4 weeks so everyone can see but nobody can touch. It definitely can take (probably a lot) shorter than this but I stay on the safe side because I am NOT an expert at this... haha. Good luck with your quail!

Just an update - the new quails had just about 24 hours separated from the existing ones, and fit in right away! No problems, fingers crossed.
