We have a fox problem. What is the best way to trap a fox, but not our dog? What kind of bait? We had 3 babies and 1 rooster killed this morning from a fox, would it be prudent to use their bodies as bait, or do they only want live chickens? We have tried a few types of traps but only get raccoons or opossums. Also, we know where a den is, anything that can be done there to help with our fox problem? Any information would be helpful, new to the whole trapping thing

A fox will come back for a meal they left, as long as it's fresh.
I haven't had personal experience with foxes, but I have read a bit on it in case we have an issue in the future. Fox are very crafty and can be very hard to catch. Most people have better luck with shooting them over trapping. I don't know if that's an option in your area.

We can, just tricky to do so without luring them in. Maybe use the carcasses as bait?

Using the carcasses would be fine for bait. Roughly knowing what time they would show up is helpful, too. I have some friends at church who have been having a fox problem and they have had a live trap set for weeks and have had zero luck.

I have used both but with more and more people buying property in our area I now use only live traps. I bait the traps and let the fox take the bait for a few day then set the trap, bingo, I've caught the fox. I have used both a body as bait as well as some old chicken that found it's way to the bottom of our freezer. Good luck...
