Best way to water the flock?

Ha! I was initially talking to joycats, who has ducks, but when you responded to the information I gave her I then responded to you thinking you were her....We were both not paying attention.

I happen to have chickens and ducks. Still looking at drinkers for them, I like a bowl of some sort for the chickens too. But I need something easy to clean as the ducks make such a mess. And I was wanting something that I could use most of the year but we do have freezing weather here in winter. I was just thinking that if I had some way to connect the cups straight to the water barrel that it might not freeze as quickly as the tubing would. But now I'm not sure about the cups, do the birds have to push a lever to get water or is there a valve that keeps it full? I really want something that automatically refills so that water is always available. I don't have time to be out there training chickens and ducks to push a button for water service.

With the cups they have to press a lever. Maybe the Little Giant type would be auto filling. I'm not sure though.

I have chickens and ducks. The drip waterers are fine for the chickens but the ducks have a hard time with them and they need something that they can some what wash there beek with I built a setup with cup waterers and will never use anything else they both work off the same water source a 15 gal tank and for 20 chickens and 6 ducks I have to fill it every other week. The only thing you have to watch for if your using a system with a large water tank is algea growth and other things in the catainer. I'll put a couple pics of my setup I hope this helps.

hi joycats its thompson suris i changed my name here are some pictures i had on my computer if you want better ones let me know ill take newer ones. I dont know if it matters to you but you can also use apple cider vinegar to prevent algae and it is a natural wormer for the chickens. all of our chickens and ducks are organic. the ratio is 1tbs per gallon. and make sure if you container is transparent to put a cover over it getting rid of just the light will help alot. i cleaned my container with acv then rinsed it. then rinsed again with food grade de to kill any possible paricites. i do that every 6 months. but the acv works really well for me.

The cups refill as they are drinking from the cups. When they stick in their beaks, it triggers the valve to release more water so no training is required
