Hi there,
My girls will literally not drink for 3 days off the nipple waterer so I place the old plastic waterer back in and they literally stay there and drink for 30mins!!!! Needless to say my feed store said if I took out the water source and show the girls the nipple waterer they'd take to it. Not so!! I've tried this the last 2 weeks twice and epic failure. Now my girls are very skiddish of me and I think p*ssed as well. I don't like using the plastic waterer because it gets grimy after a few days. Any ideas what else I can use please?

Thanks,
My Girls Hate Nipples LOL!!

You could try cup waterers. I haven't used them yet but I think that's what I'm going to do. They are basically little cups that are attached to a non-pressurized water source and refill as the chickens drink. There's several different types, some use a float to refill and some have a little lever that the chickens bump when they drink and it refills that way.
My chickens seem to ignore the nipples as well. I also have other water troughs out for my ducks so that might be why but they get filthy in minutes and the ducks will completely empty them in a couple hours if we don't refill them. So I'm hoping the cups will be more inviting to them than the nipples.

Here's a link just as an example of what I'm talking about: http://www.amazon.com/Automatic-Wat...439307244&sr=8-1&keywords=chicken+cup+waterer
