Hi! My name is Lissa and I've been a member since November of last year. I was supposed to heave introduced myself then but Im not good at being on time with certain things. LOL! I didn't know to this. I just happened to be looking around and clicked on my messages and that is where I found
the " WELCOME TO BACKYARDCHICKENS " msg that you get when you become a new member. So, better late then never I guess.
Anyways, I love chickens, especially male chickens. Hens are awesome too, as long as their personalities go well with my nutty family. I live in
a "NO ROOSTER ZONE", STUPID! I fell in love with chickens when one day my oldest came home w/ his friend and a 12 week old Buff Orpington. They both claimed that it had started following behind them from the elementary school up the street. They had heard a cluck cluck sound and there he was happily walking behind them. So they picked him up and took him to me. I feel in love immediately. That was 9.5 years ago.
Sadly he passed 11-20-2012. I currently have in my family 2 feathered foot bantam roosters, 1 male Wyndotte, 1 male Rhode Island Red and his mate, another Rhode Island hen 8y , my oldest, and the newest hen named Peaches @13 weeks of age. Plus 1 male Mallard Duck named Ace. Well, that's me and my chickens. I also have 4 dogs, 1 new kitty, 5 kids, 2 grand kids, and last but not least my HUSBAND. LOL!
Thank you
Sry so long of an intro but that's me.
Me and my zany family of misfits!
