This spring I'd like to get new roost, right now they have wooden dowels, and one already broke

we might also get more chickens (yep...more.....lol, and hopefully our first ducks this spring

) I believe that the roost broke because of the weight, so I'll need something that can support a good amount of hens. what at do you use? Any ideas on what I should get?

2" by 4" pieces of lumber work well as roosts. If your birds have smaller feet, you can orient the wood pieces so that the 2" side faces up. Or, you could orient the 4" side up--that can be especially helpful in cold weather, because the birds can sit on their feet on the wood and keep warm.
