Super handsome, friendly, docile with a lovely demeanor, 9 month old Bev Davis line, Black Copper X Wheaten Marans cross cockerel. His type, and back conformation are superb- better than usual. Face, eyes, ear coverts and comb are exceptionally beautiful.
Good copper color hackle with little yellow in halo, and no known white feathers. His feet are well feathered, and he has the Wheaten pale slate/ pink shanks.
Tail slightly high, but within acceptable range. Chest is proud and he is good sized, but overly coppered down chest, so, he is best for a home flock of dark egg layers of Black Copper, or, Wheaten Marans, not for show. He also would be IDEAL for making a mixed flock, or, pretty Olive Eggers with Wheaten Americaunas or other blue- green breeders. Or, darkening egg color in cross breeds such as Production Reds.
He is proven fertile. His chicks are vigorous, good sized and beautiful. He by far, is the best rooster we've ever had with his hens- very loving and attentive to them, without overmating or roughness. He was dewormed in late Feb. and likes to gently eat treats from your hand and give them to his girls.
We would like a great new forever home for him, as he is friendly as well as lovely, and will cuddle when you hold him. This breed you cannot put in with other grown roosters, they are paternal and slightly protective, but much less aggressive than bantams.
We are in Napa County, California, but will also consider possible meet ups in Sonoma County, Marin County, Lake County, Mendocino County and Sacramento/ Winters/ Davis, or other No. Ca. areas.
