Colossians 3:23-25 kJV
  • And whatsoever ye do, do [it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
  • Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
  • But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

John 6:28-29

28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?

29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

These verses jumped out at me one day as being the simplest answer to understanding the whole. Everything grows out of that believing part, as evidenced by Hebrews 11:6 which states:

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Romans 10:14-17 further clarifies:

But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?

And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!”

But not everyone welcomes the Good News, for Isaiah the prophet said, “Lord, who has believed our message?”
So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

So, how can we call on him to save us if we don’t first believe? For me, faith has experiential substance, it comes from believing; believing was deciding and trusting that something is true. Faith comes from leaning in on that truth. Faith produces results!

Galatians 3:6-7

6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

Philippians 4:8-9 kJV

  • Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things.
  • Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

I was reading this verse a couple of months ago and it absolutely hit me how many things I read and watched that are not true. I had a "fiction addiction." I determined, by His grace, to overcome it. At the time I was really enjoying a particular TV drama, but - by His grace - I have not missed it at all.

John 8:36 KJV
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Glory to God! .

Hebrews 7:1-3 kJV
  • For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
  • To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace;
  • Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.

Psalm 98 kJV
A Psalm
  1. O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.
  2. The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.
  3. He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
  4. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
  5. Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.
  6. With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.
  7. Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
  8. Let the floods clap [their] hands: let the hills be joyful together
  9. Before the LORD; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

Psalm 150 kJV
  1. Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
  2. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
  3. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
  4. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
  5. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
  6. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
