Biel roo over garden variety EE with beard- hatched 3 chicks that are now 5 days old. The chipmunk stripes make me think they are pullets because female Biels have same stripes, but I don’t want to assume.
Is there any way to tell sex?

Somebody may chime in with more accurate information but if memory serves. bielefelders and EEs genetics result in chipmunk chicks the difference between males and females is the darkness of the stripes. I believe males are lighter.

I have 4 EEs that were chipmunk pattern. The 1 was an obvious mix with silver, so she doesn't count for this. The other 3 chipmunk EEs tho, 2 had dark stripes (tho one was nearly black, the other a very dark brown) and 1 that was lighter with a milk chocolate stripe. Now that they're 11 weeks old, the lighter one is looking like a pullet, the 2 darker stripes are both looking like cockrels (1 is for sure, the other we're 90% sure). But thank you for the info on the stripes, that's a new one for me! So of course I had to go flip thru all my chicky pics to see what I could.
