The kids and I picked up our Cackle order today! 2 chicks didn't survive the mail, but we have 3 Welsummer pullets, 14 Easter Egger pullets, 14 Bielefelder pullets, and 5 Bielefelder cockerels alive & chirping! So excited about these Bieles!

Where would be the best place for me to order some chick's or hatching egg's from for this breed?

Mine are from McMurray. I don't know about the best option, though.

Best option, imho, go to greenfire farm. They are a little bit more expensive, but well worth it. Here’s a picture of Fredericka. I’m teaching her to type…

Agreed. Greenfire is likely the best place to get them if you can afford it.

It was out of my price range right now (we have a large family & eat a lot of eggs), so I went with Cackle & would have considered McMurray if I had been able to schedule them to ship the week I wanted them. In the future, I hope to get several roosters from Greenfire to improve my flock if we like the breed as much as I expect.

My Bielefelders are 23 weeks tomorrow, and one is already climbing into the nest box! I will keep you posted as soon as she lays.

What was very strange about my two Bielefelder pullets was that at 12 weeks, they weighed 1.6 lbs as opposed to my Barred Rocks of the same age who weighed 2.7 lbs! I guess they are just slow growers? But they caught up....Now at 23 weeks they are bigger than my Barred Rocks.
