Here's our largest hen, Big Mama Thornton* (aka Estelle). She's a Black Star and lays beautiful large brown speckled eggs. Big Mama, despite her imposing size and aura, is second to last in the peck order... go figure.

btw We began calling her Big Mama as a young chick because we thought she would dominate the 6-girl flock, and because she looked like a ~~~big mama! In reality, she turned out to be one of the most gentle, friendliest chickens we have. But she weighs a ton!
