Patches had her litter yesterday, but I didnt look into the nest until today. I knew I heard alot of squeaks, but I just thought they were being vocal.
When Patches was taking a break to eat today, I peeked into the nest and counted the babies. She had 16 of them. All of them are alive and seem to being doing good. Though there is one peanut, but the rest look normal sized.
Patches is a bit jumpy, so I didnt mess with the litter to much, but I will check them over tomorrow and see what I have up close

I was expecting 4 or so,but not 14.
Mice litters range in size from 2 to 10,but I think the average is 7.
I will be giving Patches extra protein to help her.

Many, many, (too many!) years ago, my brother and I raised mice. We had one mouse that we named "Baker" after her first litter of 13. We had a few that tended to have really big litters. After a while, we learned to team the over-producers with some that had smaller litters, giving us a chance to even things out a little.

I'm very curious to know what colors you have too. I'll definitely be watching for future posts!
