Big Mouse Problem...

Kelly G agree xs2 .We have about the same set up.Before barn cats we'd turn on the lights to feed and the floor would move

Now the only mice we see are when the hay is delivered for horses and they don't last long! Our house Diva does not do mice!

Not sure if you have power in the coop, but my neighbors use and electronic deterrant in their house for mice. It sends some sort of high frequency to keep rodents away. They have a cat and it doesnt bother her so im not sure if it would bother the chickens? This unit just plug into an outlet.

THis link is similar to the one im talking about, my neighbors got their from theirs from the local hardware store!

Hmm, yeah I actually saw that at the store. I'm just worried about the chickens being bothered by it.. I guess we could always just try and see how they react?

I know this is a bit of an old post , but, I have one of these electronic devices in the garage. Does anyone know if this will harm the chickens.
I have been finding lots of mice poop, had to throw out the last bit of feed in a bag, as they had found their way in and pooped in it.
Now, how risky is it , or what are the chances for the chickens to actually get sick. as I think chickens and mice have probably lived side by side for years, and in lots of farms still do, can't always get away from them. So, what are the risks, or how great are they, is the better question.
I am also looking into the barn cat idea. The only thing about barn cats, is me finding their parcels in my flower beds !!!
