I have a few questions. I have 2 silkie hens and 2 silkie roos. The 2 hens are currently sitting on the fertile eggs. I went out this morning and found a hatched chick. The roos live in the same house as the hens. With the chick under the mother, do i leave the roos in the house with the chick and mom? I do not own a brooder or incubator. Do i need to provide starter feed for the chicks, and if so how to i prevent the adults from eating it. Also, when is it safe to handle the chicks? And is it ok to allow the hen to raise the chicks? I am completely new to having chicks. any help is greatly appreciated. Also the house is off the ground by a couple feet with a ramp leading down, is it safe for the chicks to climb down or should I alter that too?
