Sissy is acting oddly, she has bubbles by one of her eyes and when I was digging worms for her she would snap her beak towards them but miss completely. Blue would get out the worms and try and show her where they were but it was like she couldn't see right. What could it be? I'm worried since Penny died yesterday.

I really would appreciate some kind of help or suggestion here please?? Should I just go out and kill her? I've tried the search to find some info on what to do for her with her bubbly eye and all but haven't found anything.

well there has been several people with eye problems

as for the bubly eye it sounds like a respiratory disease
and yes it may be infected and she can't see

if so then it could be a mareks leucosis of the eye

so I would say she needs some sulmet as it will help the respriratory disease

maybe call a vet

what did the other chicken die of?

also you are digging earth worms for the chickens?

that are the earth worms that carry diseases of chickens in worms

email any questions
sunday nite is kind of slow as people are with their families

i would definately quarantine her to protect your other birds... sorry you are having this trouble. i would do exactly as Glenda recommends, she has been and incredible help to me.

Thank you, can't get to vet until tomorrow. We don't know what Penny died of, that is one reason I'm so worried. I appreciate your taking the time to answer me.

I would wash the eye with saline eye wash..
you can get terramycin eye ointment from most farm/feed stores..

also the Sulmet Miss Glenda posted..is liquid Sulmet 12.5%..

describe the droppings..color and consistency.

could be an eye infection from being pecked,
maybe something IN the eye..(check for that)
or respiratory illness.

there are several antibiotics that can be used..

I agree. Coryza or Cocci..(not sounding like cocci)

I was merely clarifying info about the Sulmet suggested by Miss Glenda.
