a few months ago my australorp got sick. She wasn't eating or drinking and her crop was really swollen and hard. I thought she was backed up, so I offered her some bread soaked in olive oil, but she wouldn't touch it. So, as a last resort, I brought her to the vet. Right before we left the house she had a big, bloody poop, and I immediately suspected cocci. $500 later we found out she did have cocci (totally could have treated that myself for much cheaper but whatever) and we were sent home with pills, powder, and a calcium suspension. She made a full recovery, crop went back down to normal, but I was never given a clear reason as to why it became swollen in the first place. I just assumed it had something to do with cocci.
Well, here we are. She's eating and drinking, laying eggs, being a jerk to the other chickens, etc. Normal stuff. But her comb and wattles are starting to get dark like she's sick and her crop is getting swollen again. Right now it's really squishy, which is different from last time when it was rock solid, but still. WHY is this happening?? It's freaking huge. It's just her, too. The other birds are fine and have been fine. I haven't seen any bloody poops and everyone is eating and drinking, including my australorp.
Does anyone know what's going on?
