We have these two twin kids. One is Billy and one is Timmy. I am wondering if Timmy is sterile. Here is what i got- Timmy lost his umbilical cord at one or two months old; Billy lost his at 2 weeks old. Timmy's horns has not even begin to sprout; Billy has already has them about this long: l---------------------l. Timmy has already begun to do this weird tongue thingy; Billy has not. They were born around December 17th?? Could my Kiddo be sterile?? if so them we need to make sure when we sell them, that they know he is not sterile.

Why? Because he is polled? (Naturally hornless)

This isn't a problem. Just refrain from breeding him to another polled doe, just to be safe.

His umbilical cord has nothing to do with fertility.

I suggest you do much more research before you begin breeding goats, to do it right is difficult. :)

Good luck.

What didi you look up? A polled buck is desirable by lots of people. Even a polled to polled breeding has a 12.5% chance of hermaphrodite. Just don't breed polled to polled to avoid.

ok! thank you guys. we are new to this whole deal and everything. we have only 5 so far and two of them are little ones, the others are grown. we have been doing some research, and even we know we are not ready yet. but i am trying in every way possible to keep my little ones. if one could not breed then we would have to cull him. its very confusing, but thank you for letting me know that he can breed!

Not really male of female. Doesn't have correct sex organs to have have kids or sire kids. It can happen in goats, rarely.

Also, the little bucks should be seperated from any mature does, ones that go into heat,at around seven weeks. Goat boys can and will mate that early even to their own mother.

They are not around their own mother, we bought them at day 3 and bottle fed them bc she had her bag stomped off by a horse. they are separated by a chain link fence. they are around their full blood sisters, but can't get to them. long story how we ended up with them full brother sister. but we were going to start a second " flock ( or whatever)" with Billy and soon to be weathered timmy, with these goats we are gonna buy soon
