I have threads following the growth of all my Ameraucana varieties, so I figured I might as well share my Marans progress as well. I hatched out 8 Blue/Black Birchen Marans a week ago, and took their week old pics today. Here they are!
#1- Red Band (Black)
#2- Yellow Band (Blue) This baby was named "Mumble" while still in the egg because it constantly was dancing and rocking around and reminded me of the penguin from Happy Feet. Very sweet baby.
#3- Green Band (Blue)
#4- Blue Band (Blue)
#5- Purple Band (Blue)
#6- Pink Band (Blue) This baby was named "Freckles" because it came out of the only speckled egg in the bunch.
#7- Green Band (on left leg- Blue)
#8- Purple Band (on left leg- Black)
There they are! I can't wait til we can see what we've got here! Can't believebi only got 2 blacks out of 8. They're all beautiful and really sweet and calm though. I'm discovering I love these little guys way more than I thought I would. I'm thinking we'll possibly be able to tell gender by anywhere from 3-6 weeks, as soon as they start getting their shoulder/hackle feathers. Please follow along for their journey!
