Birchen OEGB Feathering Question

I personally have seen this too many times, the birds aquired must be test mated to insure you have what you think you have. teh dark leg on the SDW chcik is from the dark leg of the black that was used, the "black chick" is not birchen as teh breast color in teh chick down will indicate extended black. I have culled entire breeder pens for this. Too many people are looking for short cuts in producing a showable bird, and just cross what they aquire not knowing anything about them. You can quite easily tell the difference in the cross of a SDW and Black rather than Birchen. The SDW X will have a whiter hackle color with thinner center stripe, where as teh Birchen will actually be Silver in teh hackle and saddle.
next look for stippling in the feather of the female, the black will mask most of it but if you look you will find it very faint but present.
extended Black chicks will have a white or yellow breast in teh down, Birchen Based birds are Black at hatch.
