How long do we have to be worried about avian flu? I've been keeping my chickens coop-ed up (haha) and taking lots of precautions. How long do I have to keep this up? Anything I need to know about eating the eggs right now while the flu is still around?

Thanks!

Welcome to BYC!

You could ask about avian flu over on the Emergencies/Diseases part of BYC and someone there should be able to answer your questions.

Nice to have you join us!

I'm glad you joined us.

I would assume that you'll need to continue biosecurity practices until the main threat of Bird Flu is gone (whenever that is- I don't know). I don't believe the threat is particularly high, however. You may get some more helpful answers if you post in the Emergencies, Diseases, Injuries/Cures section: Emergencies / Diseases / Injuries and Cures

I hope you can find all the information you need.

I'm glad you joined our "flock!"

X2 on Wyandottes7. Good luck with your birds! Hopefully, they stay bird-flu free.

I agree with the responders who say to ask in the emergencies forum. You could also put "Avian flu" in the search box and see what information comes up. I'm sorry I don't have any definitive information for you.
