Bird Pictures!

Thanks everybody!

I wasn't quite sure about the Blue Heron. I know I did get some pictures of an immature night heron and they look similar, but you are right about the size!

The place we went to take pictures is set up really nice. It's a bird reservation with an 8 mile track running along the edges of the marsh. You can either walk or drive along the road and stop whenever you'd like to take pictures. If you move just right, you can sneak up along side some of the birds and snap close pictures. The Merlin knew we were there, but he stayed really close anyways.

I did crop a few of my pictures, but my camera also has a pretty decent optical zoom of 18X.

It all about being in the right place at the right time. I took probably about 350 pictures and out of those there were maybe 40 that I sort of liked and 10 or 15 that I really liked. A lot of the pictures will come out blurry or too bright or whatever...but I've found one component to being a good photographer is not showing off your bad pictures! LOL
