I'm home a lot and spend a significant amount of time with my feathered friends, but I feel awful and guilty whenever I have to leave them.

I've seen other people take their birds with them when they go places. Is this an option? Is it too stressful for the bird?

What kind of birds?
My conure, for instance.
I wouldn't consider taking him anywhere without a harnesses and/or carrier, and he needs to be trained first. But I've seen posts on other sites, where people take their birds quite a few places.
For walks, a car ride, to visit others, etc.

I'd like to do that in the future. Maybe next summer, if he's trained well enough. But is that too stressful for a bird?

My Pionus loved going on vacation with me. Driving from Arkansas to northern Minnesota. I had a smallish travel cage holding food and water and a perch to roost on at night. She traveled on our shoulders or seat backs. Loose in cabin during day, like at home. She was pretty well potty trained and not a destructive chewer. Birds can’t be left home alone all day. Options were to keep her at a relatives home or hire a pet sitter to stay at the house.
