My husband & I (& our boys) had some chickens & ducks many yrs ago in upstate NY.
Last Oct we were given an opportunity to build an incubator & hatch ostrich eggs in N.Florida.
This spring, as we prepair to send the young ostriches to auction, we've decided to create a flock of SMALL birds that we'll be able to keep. We wanted to give our daughter an experience similar to what her brothers had before she was born.
She says she can't wait to hear quacking from DUCKS instead of FROGS.

Greetings from Kansas, JanesMom, and

! Great to have you aboard! Sounds like you have hatching experience already but here is a link to the Ducks Forum since you'll have ducklings soon!

Welcome!

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

Best wishes!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends

How nice your daughter will be able to enjoy poultry like her brothers did. Although, speaking as a former Floridian, I miss the sound of those little tree frogs, lol.

I actually love the frogs & all the lizzards. But, it was soooo funny...got excited when we (thought) we heard ducks, went out to see where they might be, found a frog making the noise--felt so cheated!

Howdy, howdy, and welcome to Backyard chickens! I am so glad you were able to join us, and I hope you will make yourself at home here and enjoy it as much as I have! :frow
