Birdbrains are scattering more feed than they eat

The 3 week olds in the mostly LF brooder they eat normal, the mostly banty brooder however is driving me nuts. The little boogers get a fresh jar of food on the chick feeder and a few hours later the jar is empty and the food is on the bottom of the brooder, last time I scooped it, seems like there was more food than pine litter on that half the brooder.

They are using the mason jar type, is there a different feeder I should get them that might help? The naughtiest ones are pyncheons, its like dogs and flower pots, digging for fun.
Thanks,
bel

You could try raising the whole works up on a brick so they can't stand on it & scratch it out. I keep mine on a brick, in a flower-pot base so what they DO throw around gets caught & pecked at when they are scratching.

Thanks I will give the long feeders a try, bricks might work in the other brooder too but the pyncheons are super tiny chickens, so I don't know if they could reach.

I'm having the same type of problem with my 5 week olds. I had the mason jar type of feeder up on a brick so it would stay cleaner & the little stinkers keep getting on top of it until they knocked it over & spilled it. So I switched to the long metal feeder with the cover with the wire spacers, and put that up on bricks they climb up on that knock it off the bricks & it gets filled with the shavings & poop! They waste as much as they eat....but they are so cute.
